Tim Laskowski

Me

My name is Tim Laskowski.  This endeavor is related to the part of me that likes music and technology.  I have written several songs over the years while playing in a couple local bands.  Some projects have been a joint effort.  Others have been completely solo.

Instruments

My favorite instrument to play is definitely a drum set.  The Yamaha kit (black) with 3 toms, a snare, and enough cymbals to have fun with.  Playing guitar (6 and 12 string electric and acoustic oh, and a 5 string Banjitar) are also things that I peruse.  Bass Guitar is a fun one as well.  Lastly, I am working on picking up the piano. This sound like a lot of work, but, what I mean to say is that I am practicing while sitting in front of it, so please do not worry about my safety.

Other Interests

Other musical interests include building homemade instruments.  I have now made a cigar box guitar and a cigarbox 2 string bass.  Me and the kids are working on building a couple of cigarbox ukulele for each of them.  I have no idea how to play one yet, and the challenge we will overcome is that one is a left-handed and the other is right-handed.  We will just learn together.

Memberships

Larger organizations are important in that they help me to feel involved in communities that are somewhat like-minded.  I am an American Federation of Musicians member in Dayton Ohio, and have been for several years now.  AFM-Logo-4c ASCAP is another organization that I have belonged to for the past few years as Tim Laskowski (song writer) and DWITS.BIZ (Publisher).  There are currently  a few songs registered in my name, and they are also posted on this site.  I have also just entered this song into the USA songwriting competition.  Who knows where that will land?ASCAP logo

Music and Tech Integrated

The Tech field is where I earn my living.  I enjoy learning how things fit together.  In music, I exercise these muscles by home recording.  Since I play my own music and have a bunch of equipment lying around, I figure I should put it to some use.  At home, I use Cubase Pro running through some Delta 1010s.  I use Nady 8 port DI Box for the guitars and 3 Nady 8 port rack mount mixers to cover impedance and save space.  My live drums use Samson Mics.  For headset monitoring, I use a Rolls Headset mixer behind a Mackie.  As for a vocal mic I kind love my Rhode.

Projects

Projects for other people is another way I enjoy my time.  I like working through my own art as well.  My current project is working on a roving laptop based unit using my laptop and a Presonus USB interface.  This one is all Linux-based.  Free and easy down the road i go!
